In most cases, search engines rank pages that have such links higher, since they are generally considered to be more worthy of linking to. it was this realization that allowed me to get favorable results after I submit my blog to a few directories. The directory listings themselves don't actually generate more visitors. There remains some contention with regard to how many directories is the right number to submit my blog to. Opinions range from the modest to the outlandish, with some people of the thinking that I should submit my blog to as many different blog directories as I could manage.
